In the era of subscription streaming platforms, a legitimate question arises: why pay an extra fee for music at an event?
If you're having a party with friends in a shelter, a Bluetooth and Spotify speaker can be enough. On the other hand, for an evening gathering more than 100 people in a large room, this type of equipment becomes inadequate. A living room speaker or a boom box may produce too loud a sound in one corner and an unpleasant background noise at the other end, thus leading the atmosphere.
With a large room and many guests, sounding requires quality material capable of broadcasting a precise and powerful sound. The aim is not only to increase the volume, but to preserve the clarity and the sound details, as if we were looking at a photo with a magnifying glass. However, Spotify and other platforms broadcast a compressed sound, unable to restore the nuances of the deep basses or the sharpness of the sharps when the sound is amplified to fill a space and encourage guests to dance.
Clubs attract people not only for the atmosphere, but also for their high-end equipment, which allows you to feel the music physically. These sensations are impossible to get with headphones or a basic audio system. However, equipment alone is not enough. The quality of audio files plays a crucial role. A compressed streaming, even broadcast on an excellent sound, cannot reproduce the "physical" details of the music. Most MP3s also suffer significant losses, particularly in terms of impact and bass accuracy.
Some DJs understand: the oldest have digitized their vinyls in high quality (48 kHz). For my part, I buy my titles on Qobuz in 24 bit FLAC format, 48 kHz, in order to guarantee an optimal sound restitution.
